If you're in your 40s or 50s and looking for fashionable, grown-up style in Tokyo, NEWoMan Takanawa is your must-visit destination.
This brand-new shopping complex brings together some of the most stylish Japanese boutiques — many of which are usually found only as street-level stores in Omotesando and Aoyama.
Now, you can explore them all in one place.
Conveniently connected to JR Takanawa Gateway Station, this beautifully designed mall makes your Tokyo fashion shopping both stylish and efficient.
On September 12, 2025, NEWoMan Takanawa opened its doors right in front of Takanawa Gateway Station. Situated between Shinagawa and Tamachi on the JR Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku Lines, this brand-new shopping complex is already generating excitement. I had the opportunity to attend its exclusive pre-opening preview to see what makes this latest addition to Tokyo’s retail scene so special.

Takanawa Gateway Station: Tokyo’s Newest Gateway to the City
Takanawa Gateway Station is one of Tokyo’s newest train stations, opened in 2020 on the JR Yamanote Line and Keihin-Tohoku Line. Conveniently located between Shinagawa and Tamachi, the station provides easy access to both Haneda Airport and central Tokyo.
The station itself features a modern, open-air design created by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. With its futuristic look, spacious concourse, and innovative facilities, it has quickly become not only a transport hub but also a new cultural and architectural landmark in Tokyo.
